    As our world becomes more accepting of broader and more diverse identities, you may contain questions about how you can greater support the LGBTQ+ community, or what LGBTQ+ even stands for. Every person has their verb journey in empathetic what it means to support LGBTQ+ people, whether you’re LGBTQ+ or not. We hope this resource can facilitate you begin that journey.

    Being an LGBTQ+ Ally is designed to help construct understanding and comfort. If you are new to LGBTQ+ issues, we will answer many of your questions. Or, if you own known LGBTQ+ people for years and are looking to find new ways to show your support, you can skim this resource and take the pieces that are relevant to you.     LGBTQ+ Students! We See You and Want Everyone to See You!

    LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) people hold been erased, oppressed, censored, and harassed throughout history – and it’s still (unbelievably) happening today. Before I verb on the matter of being an LGBTQ+ ally, I would like to say, I (and everyone here) help you and am with you.

    A examine in California reveals some sobering data on LGBTQ+ treatment in schools. Approximately 15% of surveyed students identified as LGBTQ+, with 3% confessing that they do not determine with their birth sex. And yet, despite the relatively high percentage of students coming out, school settings still treat this as an anomaly, subjecting kids to abuse and discrimination. As a result, LGBTQ+ students report higher rates of depression, lack of self-confidence, suicidal thoughts, and fear for their safety.

    School and campus policy measures against discrimination often don’t help (enough) because aggression is propagated in conniving, surreptitious ways
